About Hawaii
Hawaii's natural beauty, warm tropical climate, inviting waters and waves, and active volcanoes have made it a popular destination for tourists, surfers, biologists, and volcanologists alike. Due to its mid-Pacific location, Hawaii has many North American and Asian influences along with its own vibrant native culture. Hawaii has over a million permanent residents along with many visitors and U.S. military personnel. Its capital is Honolulu on the island of Oahu. The eight "main islands" that make up the state of Hawaii are Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui, and Hawaii. The last is by far the largest and is often called "The Big Island" to avoid confusion with the state as a whole
Kauai basks amidst the sparkling clear blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, about 20 minutes from Honolulu. Formed over some six million years ago, the island encompasses roughly 550 square miles and is the oldest and northernmost of the main Hawaiian Islands. When you visit Kauai you will quickly lose yourself in the quiet majesty of the island's lush tropical rainforests, vast roaming valleys and its beautiful waterfalls.
Oahu
Oahu is the third largest of the islands of Hawaii, and the most popular tourist destination in Hawaii. As the location of Honolulu, the state capital, and as home to over 85% of the state's population, the island is appropriately nicknamed "The Gathering Place". Also home to Waikiki Beach, and Hawaii's Major airport, most tourists will begin their Hawaiian journey here.
The island of Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands and it is often referred to as the magic isle, this could due to the island being host to beaches with red sand to green sand. Or the Opportunities to snorkel, surf and scuba dive in the crystal clear waters that surround the island.
Hawaii
The island of Hawaii is sometimes referred to as Big Island to avoid confusion with the entire state of Hawaii. Known for its National Volcano Park, Big Island is also home to snow capped mountains and a black sand beach, offering its visitors a holiday to remember.
